Focus and Scope
Journal of Surfaces and Materials Processing is a peer reviewed archival journal which publishes scientific papers in the field of surface and materials engineering to modify/improve the surface properties of materials for protection in contact conditions or aggressive environments, or for enhanced functional performance. Original scientific publications dealing with fundamental and practical aspects of research or direct applications of metallic, inorganic, organic, and composite coatings and materials are welcome, as are invited reviews of current technology in specialized fields. In order to be considered for publication, your paper must be a research study on surfaces and materials either by experimental techniques or computational methods. If not, your submission will not be considered for publication and will not be sent out for peer-review.
- Surface Processing: Surface Processing includes bulk treatments, surface treatments, surface coatings and cleaning processes. Bulk treatments involves precipitation hardening, Induction hardening, annealing and tempering etc. The surface treatment involves carburizing, nitriding and anodizing etc. Surface coatings include thermal spraying, microwave claddings, laser claddings, CVD, PVD, Sol-gel and post-processing of coatings, etc. Functional surfaces and coatings, Biomedical coatings, Electrochemistry at surfaces and corrosion protection strategies, etc.
- Materials Processing: The journal’s subjects include cutting-edge advancements in material characteristics achieved by alloying and the processes of casting, forming, heat treating, surface modification, coating, fabrication, machining, joining, additive manufacturing and other new and developing methods and technologies. Materials processing involves a complex series of chemical, thermal, and physical processes.
The performance evaluation of materials and surfaces should be done on mechanical, thermal and electrical properties etc. The various types of corrosion and wear related experimental papers should provide complete information on the process parameters and an appropriate microstructural characterization. Also, papers which include test data should provide full details of the test equipment and parameters. Such papers should report on the synthesis-characterization-properties-performance relationships. For queries related to the journal, please contact editors.jsmp@royalacademiapublishing.com
